Interviews

At Bespoke Crew, we’re seeing more and more yacht professionals carving out space for their individual passions—and turning them into valued onboard services. Whether it’s spinning sunset sets as a DJ or leading morning Pilates sessions on deck, these added skills don’t just enhance the guest experience—they make your role unforgettable.
There’s something electric about being the one who sets the tone for the day—or night—on board. One of our DJs shared:
“Once you understand the guests’ energy, everything flows. A well-timed track during a poolside afternoon or a chilled set at sunset can completely elevate the mood on board. That connection through music is what makes it so special.”
For many, music isn’t just a hobby—it’s part of who they are. DJing at sea creates a new platform to share that passion.
“I’ve always had a deep love for music. So, when I entered the yachting world, it felt natural to bring that with me. It adds a personal layer to the guest experience and often becomes a highlight of the trip.”
And the most in-demand tunes?
“Without fail, guests love a good singalong. Funky remixes of classic hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s are always a hit—they’re upbeat, familiar, and bring all generations together.”
Guests today want more than indulgence—they want balance. That’s why yoga instructors, Pilates pros, and personal trainers are now some of the most sought-after additions to yacht crew teams.
From private HIIT sessions to sunrise yoga overlooking the ocean, these professionals are creating memorable experiences that prioritise wellbeing. Some even collaborate with yacht chefs to support personalised health plans.
We spoke with Samantha Rulli, a certified Pilates instructor now working as a stewardess on a 100m+ motor yacht, about her transition from studio to sea.
“Fitness has always been part of my identity. Since I was young, I loved designing workouts for friends and family. Becoming a certified Pilates instructor at 18 was just the beginning. For years, the idea of working on a yacht stayed in the back of my mind. When I finally realised it was a real possibility, it felt like everything aligned—travel, connection, and wellness all in one.”
“In a traditional studio, I often work with long-term clients focused on ongoing progress. On board, it’s a different kind of magic. Guests may be new to Pilates, which makes it an exciting opportunity to introduce them to something that could genuinely improve their lifestyle. It’s about giving them a world-class experience they’ll remember—and maybe even take home with them.”
“Joining my first yacht has been surreal. I’m stepping into a role where I can blend my experience as an instructor with life as a stewardess. Being part of a close-knit team while still leading with my passion for fitness—it’s the perfect fit.”
Whether you’re a performer, wellness expert, creative, or coach—there’s space for your skills in yachting. The industry is evolving, and yachts are actively seeking crew members who bring something extra to the table.
