A month on from PIBS 2025, the energy and conversations from this year’s Palma International Boat Show are still fueling what’s shaping up to be an exciting season. Representing Bespoke Crew at the event wasn’t just about visibility—it was about real, meaningful interactions with crew, captains, and industry peers.
Face-to-face moments like these remain a cornerstone of how we build trust, offer support, and understand the real-world needs of the yachting industry.
From day one, the docks were alive with opportunity. I spent the show reconnecting with placed candidates, meeting department heads, and introducing our services to new vessels. While digital outreach is essential, nothing beats in-person engagement when it comes to building credibility and long-term relationships.
The goal wasn’t just to distribute brochures—it was to listen. I spoke with a range of professionals about current recruitment challenges, the demand for high-calibre crew, and the ongoing importance of cultural fit and support. Across the board, one thing was clear: yachts are prioritising well-rounded, prepared crew who bring both skill and longevity to the table.
A standout moment from PIBS was co-hosting an evening run with Yachties Run Wild, an all-female running group bringing women in yachting together through movement and connection. We ran a 5km route through Palma and wrapped things up with relaxed drinks at Ventura Bar.
The turnout was incredible—and so was the vibe. I met stewardesses at all points in their journey: some new to the industry, others with years of experience. Events like this are a reminder that networking doesn’t have to happen at formal mixers. Sometimes the most valuable conversations happen after a run, in trainers, over a casual drink.
These informal moments are where real advice is shared, friendships are formed, and confidence is built—particularly for those just getting started in yachting.
This year, I also held several one-on-one CV and career planning sessions. These workshops allowed me to sit down with crew in a more personalised way—offering guidance on refining CVs, prepping for interviews, and navigating seasonal transitions.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and it was brilliant to see follow-up messages and updated CVs rolling in just days later. Supporting crew beyond the job hunt—through mentorship and honest advice—is exactly what Bespoke Crew stands for.
One unexpected but rewarding moment was our session in the ACREW Lounge. Originally planned as a traditional panel discussion, it evolved into a more intimate and interactive conversation when a few attendees (perhaps recovering from a busy night!) didn’t make it.
This shift worked in our favour. The open-circle format allowed for relaxed dialogue, peer sharing, and deeper insights. We discussed crew culture, how to identify red flags onboard, the importance of values-led hiring, and the evolving role of recruitment agencies.
Crew opened up about their personal experiences, and the discussion grew as more people joined in. It was an honest, respectful space—full of shared challenges and practical solutions. For me, it confirmed what I’ve always believed: creating space for crew to talk, share, and learn from each other is one of the most valuable things we can do.
The rest of the show flew by in a blur of dock walks, client catch-ups, and spontaneous meet-and-greets. I ran into several crew members who had previously joined our events, and it was brilliant to hear how their careers have progressed.
Whether it’s checking in with a captain we’ve worked with before, or encouraging a first-season greenie, it’s these conversations—grounded in presence and purpose—that shape the Bespoke Crew approach.
PIBS 2025 reminded me of the value of consistency. Showing up. Listening. Offering support that goes beyond just placing crew in roles. It’s about nurturing careers, fostering strong yacht cultures, and playing an active role in this ever-evolving industry.
I returned from Palma with a full notebook, a camera roll of great memories, and a renewed commitment to the work ahead. Follow-ups are already in progress, and I’m excited about what’s to come from the connections we’ve made.
To everyone who joined a session, met me on the dock, or simply stopped to say hello—thank you. You made this show what it was.
Here’s to the season ahead: building strong teams, sharing knowledge, and supporting crew in every step of their journey.
